Overview:
McWane Ductile- Utah is in need of a Software Developer. We are a world class manufacturer of ductile iron pipe and have been in operation since 1926. 

 

Summary: To create and maintain internal software programs for our business. This includes front end GUI, server-side data access layer and SQL database development. Interfacing with production hardware and controls through Open PLC Communications (OPC) and future IoT applications. Maintain legacy Delphi code base and create imaginative new applications in Node.js/React. NOT A REMOTE POSITION.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to focus on multiple projects at once and to troubleshoot problems quickly.

Succeed without direction, confident in own ability, understand what needs to be done, and do it.

Be comfortable working with a wide range of business units from production to engineering, accounting and management.

General business process knowledge, such as General Ledger, Purchasing, Receiving, Inventory will be helpful.

Commitment to continuing education in computer programming (training at employer’s expense)

Self-starter, accomplished problem solver, service oriented and well-rounded people wanted.

Reports to IT Manager

Date: 9/4/2024

Work Environment: Industrial facility; may spend some time in plant but work area will be in the primarily in the office.

Physical Demands: Standing, walking, sitting for extended periods of time, light work that may include lifting up to 20 lbs.

Position type and expected hours of work: On-site full-time position, work schedule is typically 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, additional hours may be required, and some on call work is required as needed.

Travel: Some travel may be required.

                             

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Code and test programming for in-house software programs.

Debug code for existing programs based on immediate need.

Conduct end-user training up on completion of software

Balance workday between multiple projects and respond immediately to tech support request from staff.

Implement systems in in-house production environment, and across several divisions.

Report issues and concerns immediately to management.

Troubleshoot system bugs and issues.

Any additional general IT responsibilities as assigned.   

Qualifications:
Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer programming, or relevant experience.

3+ years’ software development experience

Experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Type Script, Node.js, React, Docker, SQL server database. Delphi language experience or other object-oriented language experience desired. 

Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft software
