Overview:
Trissential is seeking a Senior Consultant, Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client’s team remotely in Milwaukee, WI. In this role, you’ll take the lead in optimizing, securing, and maintaining SQL Server databases that are critical to the success of our projects. Your expertise will drive performance improvements, resolve real-time issues, and foster a culture of collaboration and growth. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor and guide your peers, using your experience to elevate the entire team. Responsibilities:
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance SQL Server databases
Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure stability, security, and efficiency
Solve real-time issues, ensuring seamless database operations with minimal downtime
Automate regular processes, document improvements, and drive operational excellence
Collaborate with developers to fine-tune complex queries and optimize database schemas
Support after-hours maintenance and deployment activities when needed
Share your technical expertise with team members, mentoring others and fostering a collaborative environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
7+ years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA
Expertise with SQL Server 2016/2019
Hands-on experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
Familiarity with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies for SQL Server
Experience working in Windows Server environments, including Active Directory
Experience working with SQL Servers in Windows Server Virtualization (Microsoft Hyper-V) environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Essential skills:
Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL programming
Performance tuning and optimization (PTO), with experience using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Experience with database monitoring tools (preferably Zabbix)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
Desired skills:
Experience with automation tools (e.g., Terraform) and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell)
Experience supporting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
Experience with cloud-based SQL solutions like Azure SQL Database
Familiarity with other database systems such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
Experience with Veeam Backup and Recovery platform
Certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Data Management and Analytics
Benefits:
Trissential offers a competitive compensation package for seasonal roles. The hourly pay range for this role is $65 to $75 depending on candidate's qualifications and experience.
