About IN BOLD PRINT:

Our software platform helps small to midsize companies in the consumer goods space measure their carbon emissions to meet regulatory requirements and drive revenue growth. Think of IN BOLD PRINT as the ‘TurboTax’ of carbon accounting.

IN BOLD PRINT is a female-founded, venture-backed startup based in Chicago. We just completed another successful capital fundraise and are looking to grow our team as we launch into this next phase of rapid growth! With a round full of both institutional investors and strategic, corporate partners, we are set to move quickly and take the industry by storm.

About the Role:

IN BOLD PRINT is seeking a driven Full-Stack Software Engineer to own the next generation of our software platform’s development.

Our platform helps small to midsize companies in the consumer goods space measure their carbon emissions to meet regulatory requirements and drive revenue growth. Think of IN BOLD PRINT as the ‘TurboTax’ of carbon accounting. Our platform offers 1) a simple, guided interface that allows users to quickly and easily enter the right information about their business, 2) a powerful carbon emissions calculation engine that delivers accurate, share-able results, and 3) intelligent insights that give businesses the information they need to report and reduce their emissions.

In This Role, You Will:

Work directly with our CTO to architect, design, and develop the next version of our software platform, focusing first on our customer portal, from the ground up

Manage the entire software development lifecycle for new features, including service ownership, testing, CI/CD, troubleshooting, and support

Create user-friendly software that allows users to easily interpret and provide necessary information

Design front-end software with back-end data architecture in mind to facilitate auditable carbon emissions calculations and insights

Initially, spend 90% of your time on front-end development, gradually increasing back-end work and determining your preferred balance as the team and roadmap evolve

Apply best practices and modern technologies to develop a reusable code base that supports high modularity, extensibility, configurability, and maintainability

Build a robust technical foundation within a cloud PaaS architecture, including CI/CD practices like automated testing and version control, for team use as we grow

Provide technical direction and estimates for new features to guide the product roadmap

Develop well-designed test cases and adhere to testing guidelines and best practices

Identify and resolve technical debt and performance bottlenecks, improve code, and deploy enhancements to production

Document your codebase with requirements, decisions made, future improvements, and any other necessary information to ensure others can easily pick up where you left off, maintaining flexibility for the entire team

Continuously evaluate new technologies and innovations to enhance platform capabilities and functionality, integrating third-party services where necessary
