POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will act as a liaison between IT, IT vendors and the business. The IT Infrastructure Engineer supports the business in day-to-day operations, as well as facilitates business changes. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop, maintain, and continuously improve and support internal the IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networks. Infrastructure Engineer will also be providing expert infrastructure oversight, ensuring successful delivery and performance of IT services for the organization. This role will be a major stakeholder in the successful growth of FREE’s service offering and expansion.

Responsibilities:
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Onsite presence is mandatory; remote work is not an option.

Troubleshoot, support, design, and deploy functional network systems (LAN, WLAN, WAN).

Escalate issues and communicate effectively with senior management.

Provide support for server virtualization and creation.

Assist with migrating servers from co-location to cloud environments.

Troubleshoot, support, and maintain switches, firewalls, and all network equipment.

Configure, install, and support software on servers.

Monitor the performance of networks and servers.

Address and resolve support issues at all levels, act as an escalation point.

Assist in maintaining network and server documentation.

Help manage vendor support contracts.

Serve as the cybersecurity liaison between the organization and cybersecurity vendors.

Oversee data backup, recovery processes and disaster recovery.

Assist in the deployment, maintenance, and upgrading of infrastructure.

Support and test Business Continuity plans and systems.

Contribute to delivering high-quality service to internal users and clients.

Aid the Application Support team with critical incidents.

Assist with IT-related projects and requests as directed by IT management.

Contribute to the development of infrastructure plans for current needs and future scalability.

Mentor and serve as an escalation point for other IT staff.

Build and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, management, other departments, affiliated agencies, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Ensure timely and accurate completion of required documentation.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of certificates/certifications with 6 – 8 years of relevant work experience.

Experience: At least 6 – 8 years of professional experience in a related field.

Specialized Training, Licenses, and Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cloud certifications, etc.

Technical Knowledge and Skills: Expertise in network hardware and technology, including Cisco, Fortinet, or similar equipment. As well as fundamental IT Concepts: Strong understanding of computer architecture, networking, virtualization, storage, and operating systems.

Office 365 Administration: Experience managing Office 365 environments.

Azure Management: Proficiency in setting up, configuring, and administering Azure environments.

Operating Systems: Proficient in Microsoft operating systems.

VMware Design: Knowledge and experience in VMware design and management.

Server Hardware: Experience with Dell servers or equivalent.

SAN Solutions: Familiarity with Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions.

Active Directory: Skilled in managing Active Directory and related tools.

Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, with flexibility, clear communication, and anticipation of needs.

Organization and Communication: Must be highly organized, efficient, and possess excellent communication skills.

 

 

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Onsite Requirement: Required to work onsite, this is not a remote position. This position reports to our headquarters located in Old Bethpage, NY.

Local Travel: Regular visits to other locations across Long Island will be necessary.

Travel for Expansion: Travel to new facilities potentially in other regions.

Team Collaboration: You are expected to be a collaborative team player and provide mentorship to team members on both existing and new technologies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).

Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.

Employee might be required to occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds at a time.

The Pay Range for this job is [$94k - $108k]. This range is based on what FREE reasonably believes it will pay an employee as for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors, including, but not limited to, an individual’s experience, qualifications, longevity at FREE, geographic location, relevant skills, and other factors permitted under federal, state, and local laws.
